Our commitment

We believe that everyone has the right to access information and services independently and with ease. Genome strives to make its online presence accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our services. This means you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using browser functionality
• zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most pages using just a keyboard, screen reader, or speech recognition software

We also try to make the website and mobile apps text as simple as possible to understand.

Measures to support accessibility

Genome takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of our services:

• Integrating accessibility into our procurement practices and design and development lifecycles.
• Providing regular training for our staff on accessibility best practices.
• Conducting accessibility assessments (both manual and automated) of our digital platforms.
• Employing formal accessibility quality assurance methods.

Conformance status

We are working towards making our website conformant with EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

Current status:

We are dedicated to aligning our services with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. While our platforms currently satisfy the majority of these criteria, we understand that accessibility is an evolving target. We are actively working to resolve any outstanding issues and are committed to closing the gap to achieve full compliance.

Non-accessible content

Despite our best efforts to ensure the accessibility of our products, there may be some limitations. We are working to address these issues. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations:

• PDF documents: Some documents in PDF format may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. We are working to ensure that new PDFs are created with accessibility in mind and to remediate older documents where possible, or provide accessible alternatives.
• Complex data tables: Some complex data tables within the https://my.genome.eu portal may present challenges for screen reader navigation. We are exploring alternative presentations and ARIA enhancements.
• Third-party content: Content from third-party providers that is embedded or linked from our sites may not fully conform to our accessibility standards. We encourage these providers to improve accessibility and will seek accessible alternatives where possible.
• Interactive elements: Some elements and product functionality have difficulty with focus interaction, keyboard navigation, and challenges for screen reader navigation.

Compatibility with browsers

Our products are designed to be compatible with the latest versions of major browsers, including:

• Google Chrome
• Mozilla Firefox
• Apple Safari
• Microsoft Edge

However, due to the diversity of assistive technologies and browsers, some combinations may not perform optimally. We recommend using the latest versions of your assistive technology and browser for the best experience.
