What is a current account in a bank?
People get a current account for basic operations with their personal funds, like sending money, getting paid, etc. Genome, as an Electronic Money Institution, offers free current accounts (aka personal accounts) to EU residents.
How to open a current account?
Banks and payment service providers have different requirements and rules when it comes to account opening. With brick-and-mortar banks, you usually need to visit these to get an account, spend time talking to the manager, and fill out many documents. With Genome, you can apply for the current account online, you will need your phone, an id card/passport/residence permit, and a web browser. Enter some details about yourself and verify your identity — that's all you need to complete the onboarding.
What is the difference between current and savings accounts?
The savings account is typically used to save money, and you will be getting interest based on your deposit.
